Despite someone’s best intentions to stir things up in a defined space, a wild array of materials may not look very fresh but
rather complicated. The art of visual communication often turns into an
eclectic cluster of mis-guided information. I find that choosing a few
ideas, then comparing and contrasting them, is much more effective than
throwing a hundred different design ingredients into one space.
Most of my artistic inspiration comes from french posters created
by Henri de Toulousse-Lautrec. His application of type faces and their
interaction with illustrations is something that has captivated me to
further develop a style with type. The concept of (Klever) Design and
Function was developed by how I define my work, the functionality of design as well as the marketability that is found in it. I am inspired by the functionality of design that comes from all packaging, the arrangement of type found in every day things like food
labels and receipts, as well as the marriage of type and image.
As a graphic designer, I would like to educate the viewer of beauty found in simplicity and clarity of
design; to raise awareness of the multi-purpose of graphic design for
the general market, and to express to the best of my ability the art of
visual communication.
